We already have YachtEye onboard, can we upgrade to the latest version for free? What upgrades would we need?
All customers with a valid LMSS subscription get the upgrade to the latest version of YachtEye for free, using their existing hardware.
Are all features on the website available to all YachtEye users?
3D Engine Room and Makkah Pointer are bespoke extensions, available for a fee. All other features are included with YachtEye for all users.
Will the YachtEye server that we have with our current YachtEye installation work with YachtEye or will it need to be upgraded?
Yes. However, if your server is more than 4 years old we recommend upgrading the hardware to get the best experience.
Is a 3D model of my yacht included?
Yes. A 3D model of the yacht is included when purchasing YachtEye. 3D models of your Tenders, Support Yacht, helicopter, etc are also possible (depending on your package and/or for a fee).
Can YachtEye on TV be controlled with my existing remote controls and/or control tablets (Crestron, Control4, others)?
There is an UDP command API available, that can be integrated by us or your system integrator. For control from your control tablets, we also offer a more fully-featured HTTP API. Please get in touch with us to discuss the possibilities.
What is the YachtEye server? Do I need it?
YachtEye requires a device on-board to keep all your yachts’ data private on your yachts’ network, to read and parse the yachts’ navigational data and to run the YachtEye TV client application.
Can I buy YachtEye without the server?
No. At this time, YachtEye requires an on-board server to read your yachts’ navigation data.
What are the specifications and technical details of YachtEye?
A detailed technical guide of YachtEye is included in your purchase, as well as technical support should you have any questions.
Can I upload the PDF of the yachts’ menus?
Yes. To add a menu to the Menu App, choose “+ Menu” in the YachtEye mobile app, choose a name and upload the menu PDF.
Do we have to write the destination content ourselves?
No. YachtEye comes with an extensive destination database, including pictures and descriptions for each destination. You can overwrite our content if desired, and if you spot a mistake or a missing destination - please do not hesitate to get in touch with us and we will add or amend the (missing) destination right away. Does YachtEye work on Apple TV?
No, YachtEye currently does not work on Apple TV.
How do I install YachtEye?
YachtEye is largely plug-and-play, with the main prerequisite requirement is that the yachts’ NMEA0183 data feed is available, either via a LAN network connection or a serial (RS422) connection. At purchase, your engineers or system integrators will receive a detailed technical guide with the installation instructions, and our team is ready to support the installation remotely. On-location installation support is available for an additional fee.
When can I start using YachtEye?
Right away! Just download the YachtEye app from the iOS App Store, and you can start putting together itineraries and find inspiration for your next destination.
Does YachtEye require an internet connection?
Yes.YachtEye requires an internet connection to work. Whilst all your data is stored locally, YachtEye downloads map tiles, weather forecasts, yacht data and so on from the internet.
Do you offer crew training and/or guest training?
The crew and/or guest training is included with your YachtEye purchase. After commissioning of the YachtEye system, we will get in touch with you to find a suitable date and time.
How secure is YachtEye? Is my privacy ensured?
YachtEye has been designed, from the ground up, with your security and privacy in mind. Any connections to- and from your yacht are encrypted, and restricted to a private virtual cloud. Your data is stored exclusively on-board, and access is strictly controlled using a ‘zero trust’ security model. The YachtEye team operates under strict ‘eyes only’ and ‘need to know’ policies. Is it safe to give my guests access to the YachtEye mobile application?
Yes. Since YachtEye has been designed along the lines of a ‘zero trust’ security model, your guests will only have access to the information your crew designates as for guests, and your guests’ data will remain their private property — even after leaving your yacht. When giving access, a guest account can be set up to expire automatically after a certain date.
How do I install YachtEye?

What should I do if YachtEye doesn't work as expected?

Is there an annual subscription fee?
YachtEye requires an LMSS (Licence, Monitoring, Service & Support) subscription to continue using the system after the first 12 months, receiving updates and support – as well as regular updates to the Destination databases. This subscription covers (technical) support, training, updates, content licences (such as maps and weather) and regular updates of our curated Destination Database.
Is there a grace period to renew the LMSS subscription once expired or will there be any fees to renew the subscription after it has expired?
Generally speaking, we offer renewal at no extra costs provided the LMSS is renewed within 12 months of the original subscription expiring (subject to a fair-use policy). Has it been more than 12 months? Get in touch to discuss the possibilities.
Is it possible to do a 6-month subscription instead of annual?
No. Unfortunately it is not possible at this time.
What is the warranty coverage for YachtEye?
There is a one-year hardware warranty on YachtEye servers, starting on the date we ship the server. Water ingress or thermal problems, as a result of bad installation are not covered, but with any other issues we replace the hardware.
What is the process for repairs or replacements under warranty?

What happens after I purchase YachtEye?
Our team will get in touch with your crew and/or system integrator to request the information we need to produce the 3D models, and where to ship the YachtEye server. From that point, our team will support the installation every step of the way.
What are the payment terms?
60% of the order amount is invoiced at order and 40% upon shipment of the YachtEye hardware.
How long does it take for my YachtEye to arrive?
It will take up to 5 weeks for us to produce the 3D models. The YachtEye hardware can be shipped within 2 working weeks, under regular circumstances.
